How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Photoshoot: Tips and Tricks : PART 1

A boudoir shoot is a beautiful and empowering experience that celebrates your unique beauty and sensuality of the body. There are tons of ways to prepare for your experience based on your personal preference and story, but here area few common tips and tricks that fit everyone’s needs.

1. Communication is Key!

We love to have phone consults with our clients before every session in the studio! This allows us time to get to know you, for you to get to know us, and to discuss your vision for your boudoir experience! We talk about vision, preferences, and any concerns you may have leading up to your session date. Communication is a vital part of planning for your session, so that your images truly reflect your personality and style!

2. Choose Outfits that Make You Feel Confident!

During your session, you have access to our complete client closet filled with over 300 pieces of lingerie ranging from sizes XS to 4XL! We encourage you to peruse through the pieces and grab whatever catches your eye and play dress up and mix and match pieces! You’re also free to bring any personal pieces that you love as well and want to wear during your session! Your outfits don’t have to be revealing; wear what makes you feel confident and highlights your best features! We’ve had clients that go completely nude, or come in a cozy sweater or their partner’s favorite sports jersey!

3. Prepare Your Skin and Hair

Taking care of your skin and hair leading up to your shoot is SO important! But it’s also best not to do anything that you haven’t done before, so that you aren’t risking an unexpected reaction to occur before your shoot! Great things to start doing are moisturizing, exfoliating, and drinking plenty of water! If you’re planning on waxing or shacing, make sure to do this a day or two before your session to avoid redness or irritation!

Things to AVOID :

Tattoos! Don’t get a tattoo close to your session date! Even people with multiple tattoos can put themselves at risk of an infection or irritation around a new tattoo, which can show up in your photoshoot!

Tanning / Spray Tanning! A spray tan will rb off on furniture, lingerie and more during your session and can leave your skin blotchy! Tans aren’t recommended due to the risk of it irritating your skin! Same with sun-exposure and the risk of sun burns!

Drastic Hair Changes! The last thing you want to do is do something super drastic to your hair, and end up not liking the cut or color, and being stuck with it during your shoot! We want you to feel amazing and we know hair is a HUGE part of that!
